“To the men of the fire department

of the city of New York

who died at the call of duty

soldiers in a war that never ends

this memorial is dedicated

by the people of a grateful city”

Erected MCMXII[1]

(Inscription on the Firemen's Memorial on 100th & Riverside in NYC)

A year ago today I started this blog, it was the first step in letting go of what I couldn't ever control and put my energy into what will make a diffence in healing my heart and open up an entirely new experience. One where fear and doubt couldn't exist. And then days like these visit and remind of who I was when this happened and benchmark further my journey and those around me I am blessed to live this life with , journey with, grow with and love with♥️

This little girl🙏🫶🏻no one had to tell her a thing , she automatically saluted and stood by her dad the entire ceremony; if not with her arms anchored behind her back along with all the firemen , with her arm in her dad’s arm🙏♥️ leaning on him for support.

I heard the bagpipes this morning, headed down to ceremony and passed a woman maybe 15 years my senior walking her dog and saying to herself into the air “oh, it’s that day again” and I thought yes, that’s what happens to memory of those who live in the helter skelter of only their pure existence, no anger or eye-roll from me just a brief moment of empathy for those who can’t extend empathy for others🙏♥️

This day of remembrance for those directly affected by devasting loss of loved ones and those of us who still remember how it was to be in NYC that catastrophic day🙏 will always make my eyes swell up and heart grow in compassion. It’s that fragile and that quick. Any moment and every moment a blessing 🫶🏻 🙏♥️
